Choosing Your Nolting Longarm System

Build the Longarm That's Right for You

Your Longarm.  Your Frame.

Your Quilting Journey

Choosing a longarm is exciting—and there are choices to make along the way. From the machine and frame to machine color, features, automation and accessories, your Nolting system can be built around your space, your quilting style, and your goals for the future.

Start With You

Before choosing a machine, think about where you want quilting to take you. Are you ready to finish your own quilts? Explore more creative quilting? Quilt more frequently? Or perhaps turn something you love into a business someday?

The right longarm isn't simply the one that meets your needs today. It's one that gives you room to grow.

THE HEART OF YOUR SYSTEM

Choosing Your Machine

Your longarm machine is the heart of your quilting system, and choosing the right one begins with thinking about how you want to quilt. Consider throat space, stitching features, controls, ease of use, and the level of capability you need today—while also choosing a machine with room to support your skills, creativity, and quilting goals for the future.

Every Nolting machine is built with the same commitment to quality, precision, and reliability. The difference isn't which machine is "better"—it's which one best matches your quilting goals, workspace, and future plans.

Which Longarm Is Right For Me?

Every great quilt needs a strong foundation

Your machine may do the stitching, but your frame supports everything that makes great quilting possible.  Stability, smooth movement, quilt capacity, comfort, and even future upgrades can be influenced by the frame you choose.

Depending on machine model, Nolting offers two frame options, the Commercial Frame for all Nolting models and the Steel Stretch Frame for the Raya and Flair.  Both frames are steel construction, rigid, offer height adjustment and customizing options.

YOUR QUILTING SPACE MATTERS, TOO

Your quilting space is an important part of choosing the right longarm system and one that can be easy to overlook. Consider your room dimensions, the size quilts you want to create, frame length, working space around the frame, storage, and accessibility so you can quilt comfortably and efficiently.

Nolting offers commercial frame custom lengths to accommodate different spaces and quilting needs, allowing you to create a setup that works for your studio without unnecessarily limiting the quilts you can make.

Accessibility - Your quilting frame should fit you—not the other way around. Nolting can customize the Commercial Frame to accommodate quilters who are shorter or taller, prefer or need to quilt while seated, benefit from hydraulic height adjustment, or have other individual accessibility needs.  Learn More

Quilting Studio Planning Checklist

Measure the dimensions of the room.  Will the working footprint of the longarm system fit in your space?

What size quilts do you plan on making?  This determines the length of the frame required.

What other items will be in the quilting studio and how much space will they need?

Is storage planned for thread, batting, rulers, and other quilting items?

Have you planned accessibility space - will there be enough room to navigate between the longarm and other items in the quilting studio?

Is there adequate overhead lighting?

Is there easy access to a standard grounded wall outlet?

PERFORMANCE CAN HAVE PERSONALITY

Your longarm will become an important part of your creative space.  Why shouldn't it look like it belongs there?

Select from available paint colors and make your Nolting as individual as the quilts you'll create with it.

Consider not only what you want to quilt today, but what you might want to try tomorrow - larger quilts, more detailed designs, automation, custom quilting, or even quilting for others.
